ETSU Baseball to face two former SoCon rivals in the mid-week

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 4, 2011)
- Coming off of a series win against Florida Gulf Coast, the ETSU baseball team is set to face former Southern Conference rivals Furman and Appalachian State in a pair of mid-week non-conference games.
 
The Bucs head to Greenville, S.C. on Tuesday for a 6 p.m. contest against the Paladins before coming home for a 7:05 p.m. game against the Mountaineers on Wednesday.
 
ETSU (16-8, 8-5 A-Sun) is 3-2 in its last five contests after going 2-1 against the Eagles this past weekend. The Bucs scored a season-high 16 runs in the series opener as the team has hit .337 over the five-game stretch. Junior Bo Reeder (Cookeville, Tenn.) earned Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honors after hitting .429 (6-for-14) with two doubles, three home runs and seven RBI against FGCU.
 
The Buccaneers lead the all-time series against Furman 35-34 after a 4-2 win at home earlier in the season, while Appalachian State holds a 71-51 advantage in the series over the Bucs.
 
The Paladins (13-15, 6-5 SoCon) have dropped three straight games coming into Tuesday including a 14-4 loss to Charleston Southern and a 10-0 defeat at Winthrop. Aaron Thompkins leads the way for Furman hitting .345 with 14 RBI.
 
The Mountaineers (15-13, 4-8 SoCon) are coming off a sweep of Wofford after opening conference play with a 1-8 record. ASU is hitting .280 as a team with a 4.61 ERA. Jack Myers leads the way offensively as he is hitting .371 with 10 RBI.
