JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 25, 2011) - Junior Dylan Pratt's (Johnson City, Tenn.) two-run home run in the eighth lifted the ETSU baseball team to a 5-4 comeback win against Rider Friday night at Cardinal Park.

The Broncos (0-1) pushed across the first run in the top of the first as Steve Galella came in to score on a sac fly to left by second baseman A.J. Albee.

Rider increased its advantage to 4-0 in the fourth as the Broncos drove in three runs on a ball hit to third by Nick Crescenzo and a two-run double by Brandon Cotton.

In the bottom half of the fourth, senior Paul Hoilman (Johnson City, Tenn.) got the Buccaneers (3-1) on the board as he crushed a solo opposite field home run to cut the RU lead to 4-1.

ETSU continued to chip away at the Rider lead in the seventh. Pratt was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. After Pratt reached third on a ball hit to second by catcher Derek Trent (Kingsport, Tenn.), sophomore Kerry Doane (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) came up with an infield hit to third to plate Pratt and make the score 4-2.

The Bucs completed the comeback in the eighth as Hoilman singled in Matthew Scruggs (Knoxville, Tenn.) from second to pull ETSU within a run. In the next at bat, Pratt sent the first pitch he saw from Rider's Tyler Smith over the fence in left to put the Buccaneers in front 5-4.

Sophomore Scott McNally (Roswell, Ga.) improved to 2-0 on the season after throwing two scoreless innings while striking out four.

McNally ran into a little trouble in the top of the ninth as the Broncos had the first two batters reach on singles, but junior Bo Reeder (Cookeville, Tenn.) came in and shut the door retiring three straight Broncos to end the game and pick up his first save of the year.

Offensively, Hoilman led the way for ETSU going 3-for-4 with a double, home run, two RBI and scored two runs.

Rider's Mike Thomas was exceptional early as he limited the Buccaneers to one run on two hits before leaving after the sixth inning. Thomas also fanned ten ETSU batters in the contest, while only walking two.

The Bucs return to action tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. as they will play two games against the Broncos. For more information on ETSU baseball and all other Buccaneer athletic news please visit www.ETSUBucs.com.
