Bucs to host High Point

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 23, 2009) - The ETSU baseball team is set to host High Point in a three-game non-conference series starting Friday at 7 p.m. at Cardinal Park.

 

Game two of the series is slated for 2 p.m. Saturday, while first pitch for game three is set for 1 p.m. Sunday.

 

The Bucs (20-19, 9-12 A-Sun) are currently on a six game winning streak having defeated Tennessee and Radford in a couple non-conference midweek games after sweeping USC Upstate last weekend. ETSU is led offensively by senior Ben Allen (Kingsport, Tenn.) as he leads the team hitting .359 on the season. The Bucs are 4-2 all-time against High Point and 8-0 this season in non-conference home games.

 

The Panthers (17-20, 9-9 Big South) are 3-3 in their last six games taking two of three last weekend from 18th ranked Coastal Carolina. High Point is led by senior catcher Billy Alvino who leads the Big South in average hitting .429 on the year.

Friday's game will be broadcast on the radio on the Holston Valley Broadcasting Corporation's family of stations, which include WKPT-AM (1400) and WKPT-FM (94.3) in Kingsport, WOPI-AM (1490) and WOPI-FM (97.9) in Bristol, and WKTP-AM (1590) and WKTP-FM (97.7) in Johnson City.
