ETSU Baseball to host Rider in four-game series

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 26, 2009) - The ETSU baseball team is set to host Rider in a four-game series starting tomorrow at 3 p.m. at Cardinal Park.

 

The Bucs and Broncs will play a doubleheader Saturday starting at noon, while the first pitch for game four on Sunday is set for 1 p.m.

 

ETSU is 3-1 on the season after splitting a two-game series with Virginia Tech on the road. The Bucs are led offensively by freshman Matthew Scruggs (Knoxville, Tenn.) as he is hitting a team leading .455 with three doubles and is tied for the team lead in RBI (5) and walks (4).

 

The Bucs are 3-1 all-time against Rider, and 2-1 under current head coach Tony Skole. ETSU is 9-1 all-time against teams from the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Association.

 

Rider comes into the series having won its only two games of the season against Maryland Eastern Shore. The Broncs are led by senior outfielder James Hayes who was 5-for-8 against the Eagles with five RBI and scored three runs.
