JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (July 12, 2007) - The Tennessee Baseball Report (TBR) recently announced its 2007 high school season superlatives, and future Buccaneer Derek Trent (Kingsport, Tenn.) topped the list, garnering Most Valuable Player honors for the entire state.

The former Dobyns-Bennett star hit .470 in his senior season, driving in 61 runs and belting a school record 20 home runs.  Trent, who also earned high school All-American status as a junior, also showed remarkable discipline at the plate, receiving 41 free passes and striking out just nine times.  He was one of just two Tri-Cities locals selected to the All-TBR first team.

Trent is a member of head coach Tony Skole's highly touted eight-player signing class for the upcoming season, and will enroll at ETSU in the fall semester.  Fans can view the entire team by clicking the link provided at the top of the page.
