JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 29, 2010) -The ETSU baseball team displayed their talents in front several scouts from different major league organizations at the team's annual Scout Day, Wednesday afternoon at Cardinal Park in Johnson City, Tenn.
"Today was a good day," said head coach Tony Skole. "I really appreciate all the scouts coming out and taking a look at our players. As it pertains to the Major League Baseball Draft, we definitely have some interesting kids on our roster this season. . We have some kids with some big time tools this year, and they all performed well and showcased their abilities very admirably. Hopefully our club will continue to improve as we finish up these last few weeks of our fall season. I have been very pleased with our recent progress. We still have a long way to go, but I am very excited about this group."
The Bucs showcased their baseball skills in several drills. First, each Buccaneer player ran a 60-yard dash for the scouts in attendance. Next, outfielders threw from right field to third base and to home, and infielders took pre-game infield practice. ETSU hitters got a chance to put their power on display with batting practice, and the scouts were able to catch a sneak peak of the Buccaneer pitchers as they concluded the day throwing from the mound.
ETSU will close out fall practices with the Blue/Gold World Series on Oct. 8-13. Please visit www.ETSUBucs.com for more information on ETSU baseball or any other Buccaneer athletic team.
