JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 30, 2010) - ETSU head baseball coach Tony Skole announced the signing of Dak Rissman (Lake Worth, Fla.) to the 2010-11 class on Wednesday.
Rissman joins right-handed pitcher John Long (Anderson, S.C.), left-handed pitcher Justin Willis (Knoxville, Tenn.), catcher Steven Monger (Oak Ridge, Tenn.), left-handed pitcher Clinton Freeman (Johnson City, Tenn.), right-handed pitcher Bret Gallihugh (Sevierville, Tenn.) and outfielder Dylan Pratt (Gray, Tenn.) on the 2010-11 signing class.
"Our staff is extremely excited about Dak," Skole said. "He gives us another quality arm to add to our pitching staff for next season. Dak and his family made a visit to Johnson City this summer and he was instantly attracted to the program and the university. Dak has a simple, smooth delivery and feel for a potential plus changeup. His arm action and movement patterns caught our eye immediately. He can really locate the baseball while his velocity sits consistently in the upper eighties. Dak will have a huge impact on our bullpen for next season."
Rissman, a 6-foot-4, 180-pound right-handed pitcher, comes from Palm Beach State College where he finished with a 2-2 record and a 3.64 ERA as a sophomore striking out 27 batters in 29.2 innings of work. The Lake Worth, Fla. native also picked up two saves as the Panthers finished with a record of 37-14. In 2009, Rissman posted a 3.19 ERA with a 4-1 record for the Panthers while finishing the season with a team best four saves after striking out 41 in 59.1 innings.
